2020 House Projects List
Today I’m sharing our massive 2020 house projects list in hopes that it will give you some inspiration or something to laugh at. Because this list is steeeeeep and NOT cheap. Do we think all these projects will be completed in 2020? Probably not. But it gives us something to reach for- and that’s important!
First off, I want to share the projects that we completed upon moving into the new house. I’m not sharing this to brag, but rather to show the reality of buying an old house. We knew that some of these issues would need to be addressed before buying the house, but others were unexpected. And we considered everything on this list to be a priority. So even though we didn’t WANT to spend $300 on GFCI outlets, it was necessary to make our house safe.
Completed Projects
- Replace outlets in bathrooms and kitchen with GFCI outlets
- Replace water heater, furnace, and air conditioner (OUCH!!)
- Buy new washer and dryer (the house only had an old washer)
- Air duct cleaning – we debated this, but it was SO worth it
- Install blinds throughout the house so we’re not living in a fish bowl
- Address kitchen sink drainage issues
- Fix low water pressure in the master bathroom
We dropped quite a bit of money in our first month at the house, but they were all necessary projects. It felt good to get some big ticket items knocked out right away. This way we won’t spend too much on frivolous stuff for the house. And now that our house is safer, we can focus on the fun projects!
2020 House Projects

- Update electric outlets throughout house to 3-prong

Do you think we can do it?! It’s a pretty long list, but we have already made some progress on the basement. I’ll be sharing how-to’s (and most likely how-not’s) throughout our renovation process. I hope they will help or inspire you in your own home renovation. Let me know if you have any questions about building a project list or budgeting for your own 2020 house projects.
