Mid Century Modern Kitchen Inspiration
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we are about to embark on a kitchen renovation. It is equally exciting and scary since we have never attempted a project this large. Any hot tips or recommendations are welcome! We need all the advice we can get. To start us off, I thought I would share some of the mid century modern kitchen inspiration pictures I have saved over the last year. I would like to note that we are not preservationists. We will be respecting the age of the home, but I have no intention of perfectly replicating a 1958 kitchen. It is 2021 and we want updated appliances, loads of counter space, modern light fixtures, and a space that flows better. That said, I love the mid century look and will be incorporating many elements of that style. Now let’s look at some pretty kitchens!
What do all these kitchens have in common? They are have natural elements, be it wood cabinets or stone backsplashes. As much as I love a bright white kitchen with beautiful tile backsplash, that look would not fit well in our home. I am going for a very earthy and muted feel in our kitchen. Like many mid century modern homes, I want there to be a better connection to the outdoors. We are hoping that bringing in natural materials and light will help us achieve that feeling. How we are going to achieve it is still unknown, but anything will be better than our current dark and dingy kitchen.
These mid century modern kitchen inspiration pictures will be so helpful when we talk with contractors, designers, tradespeople, etc. I encourage you to always have a mood board or Pinterest board when you start a new house project, too! Hope you enjoyed looking at these kitchens as much as I did and stay tuned for more kitchen updates coming soon!
