2021 House Projects List
Writing out our projects list last year proved to be very helpful when we needed to stay on track. It’s hard not to have 8 bazillion projects going at once when you move into a house that needs a lot of work. Colin and I referenced the list so often that I decided we should do this yearly. So here we are with our 2021 house projects list. It’s quite a bit smaller than last year, but that’s because there is a biiiiiig ticket item on the list. Can you guess what it is? Scroll on down to find out!
2021 House Projects List
- Finish main bedroom
- Renovate office
- Install new lighting in basement
- Design and plan a KITCHEN RENOVATION
- Demo and build new kitchen
- Start vegetable garden
- Continue working on the landscaping
- “Customize” guest bedroom closet
Surprise! We are doing a full kitchen renovation! We are also getting married this year, so wish us luck 😉 Colin and I both love to cook and entertain. Additionally, I love to bake. Our current kitchen just isn’t working for us. We have about 12 inches of counterspace to do any prep work. The oven is teeny tiny and doesn’t fit most of our pans. And the cabinets are all small and don’t function well. We have to turn plates sideways to fit in them. I know there will be people who come after me for tearing out wood cabinets, but I’d like to see them try and cook or bake every single day in this kitchen.
Our 60 year old cabinets are not the only impetus for doing a 2021 kitchen renovation. The kitchen faces North and our 3 seasons room is attached to that side of the house, so the kitchen hardly gets any light. The renovation will allow us to open the space and possibly add a skylight. Give me all the natural light! We would also light to reconfigure our basement stairs. I won’t get into the details here, but they are a death trap, and it would be great to not almost fall down the stairs on the daily.
The other items on our 2021 house projects list will be smaller scale updates. We are especially excited for the office update! If you have any built-in experience (like this), please share! We are also taking staircase building advice. Anyone?! As always, thank you for following along. I promise to share anything we learn as we DIY our way through this house!
