2023 House Projects List
Writing out a project list each year is a very helpful way to stay on track. We always seem to have a million projects going at once, so this helps us prioritize. Colin and I referenced the list so often in past years that I decided we should do this yearly. So here we are with our 2023 house projects list. It feels manageable until you realize the big ticket item right at the top. I’m sure you can easily guess what that might be!
2021 House Projects List
- Kitchen renovation
- Finish staircase renovation
- Repaint dining/living room
- Repaint our bedroom
- Repaint guest bedroom
- Build bed frame and headboard for our bed
- Wallpaper pink bathroom
- Install grass cloth wallpaper in hallway
- Set up dust collection system in garage shop
- Repaint house exterior
The full kitchen renovation is happening in 2023! It is already happening as you read this! Colin and I love to cook and entertain. We have been living with a tiny oven and 12 inches of counterspace for 3 years. I CANNOT WAIT for the new kitchen. I’ve made some killer meals in this kitchen but I will not be sorry to see it go. I know there will be people who come after me for tearing out wood cabinets, but I’d like to see them try and cook or bake every single day in this kitchen. The new layout will better utilize all the space in our small kitchen, as well as fit our lifestyle.
If you read this post, you know that Colin already started the staircase renovation, but it will not be completed until the kitchen is finished. There is no reason to refinish gorgeous stair treads while there is major construction happening in the house. The staircase and kitchen renovation will make it necessary to repaint the dining room and living room. It will all be one big room after the renovation, so I want it to feel cohesive. And since we’re repainting those rooms, why not repaint the bedrooms too?! I won’t go into details as to why, but they are getting painted. Blog posts to follow.
The office was my first time wallpapering and I have the itch to add more. I adore grass cloth wallpaper, but the living room/dining combo would be an overwhelming amount of wall to paper. The hallway feels much more manageable, and I think it will really pop against the paint colors in the bedrooms. This will likely be the first project to abandon if we run out of time/money, but I hope we get to it! I’d also like to wallpaper the pink bathroom in this paper by Josef Frank. It will help bring out the green in the floor tiles. It’s also just really really cute.
Do you think we will accomplish everything on this 2023 house projects list?! I didn’t even add any gardening projects because my brain doesn’t have room to consider the garden until at least February. And the exterior paint is dependent on how tired we are after the other projects. If we only finish the kitchen this year I will be stoked. But setting up a dust collection system in the shop will make every project easier, so I imagine that will get accomplished! Make sure to follow along on Instagram for more frequent updates. And tell me what house projects you have planned for 2023 in the comments!

I’m so looking forward to seeing your projects this year! The kitchen particularly piques my interest! Still not over the pink bathroom!
