Home Renovations 1 Year Update

Hellllllo again! And thank you for not ditching me after a long hiatus from posting. My day job was incredibly busy in December and I was not feeling creative enough to warrant a blog post. But here we are – in a new year, with new ideas, and in need of a home renovations 1 year update! Last January I posted our 2020 projects list. I’ll run through that list and share some before and after photos to show you where we are today.

2020 House Projects List

  1. Upgrade the electric panel to 200 AMPs (Not needed)
  2. Update electric outlets throughout house to 3-prong
  3. Repaint the basement
  4. Install water resistant flooring in basement
  5. Update light fixtures in basement
  6. Install trim throughout basement
  7. “Customize” closets in main and guest bedrooms
  8. Fix drain issues in guest bathroom
  9. Remodel main bathroom
  10. Install smart lights in parts of the house
  11. Build a double desk for the office
  12. Repaint bedrooms and office
  13. Refresh landscaping
  14. Start a vegetable garden
  15. Update three seasons room

Looking back, this was a lofty list. And it was created before we really had time to live in the house and understand how long each project would take. That said, I’m still incredibly proud of the work we got done. Especially the basement and bathroom. Those were two huuuuge projects that made a big impact in our home and our lifestyle. Both were essentially useless before the renovations, but we now spend quite a lot of time in each space. We also accomplished some extra projects that were not on this list like Colin’s woodshop and the guest bathroom. But enough talk, let’s get the fun before/afters!

That concludes our home renovations 1 year update. 2020 certainly gave us a lot of time to stay at home, gather inspiration, and work on these projects. I’m thankful that we took our time and really thought about how we want to live in these spaces in the future. Even if that means I’ll change my mind about paint colors. Sorry Colin 😉 We really missed our friends and family and are looking forward to hosting them more this year. C’mon vaccine! Thank you so much for following along with this blog and our home renovations. I appreciate you all for being here! Come back soon for our 2021 home projects list!
