Mid Century Christmas Door Decorations
When I bought our house, I completely overlooked the fact that it still had the original door. Unfortunately the beautiful door was blocked by an ugly metal screen and had been painted boring colors. But I am so incredibly thankful that the door was still there and in great shape. We have plans to repaint it when we paint the rest of the exterior, but for now we just took off the screen door to let the door shine! Once the screen was gone I couldn’t help myself and had to put up some mid century Christmas door decorations. Hope you enjoy!
I used a few different elements to achieve this look. Everything was purchased at Joann. With a coupon, duh. Below is a list of the materials and any extra tools I used. You could absolutely switch this up to use your own preferred colors or ribbon pattern. I happened to have pink and candy cane ribbon on hand. You could also use a green wreath if the retro white wreaths aren’t your cup of tea. Basically, it’s super easy to customize these mid century Christmas door decorations to whatever look you like!

- Measure your door and decide how much garland and ribbon you need to cover it
- Attached the strands of holly garland by wrapping them end to end with floral wire
- Cut ribbon to the length of the garland and add about 1 ft to account for wrapping. You can always trim it later!
- Loosely wrap the ribbon around the holly garland using floral wire to attach it in a few places.
- Hang the garland over your door. I used small nails, but you could try command hooks if you don’t want a permanent nail hole.
- Make a large bow with the candy cane ribbon and attach it to the wreath using floral wire. Hang the wreath in the center of your door.
This whole project took less than 1/2 hour and I couldn’t be happier with the result! I hope it inspires you to give your front door a little love this season.
