ORC Week 2 Demo Day

It’s the second week of the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge and this week is all about demo! Maybe it’s just not my thing, but demo day looks way more fun on tv than it is in real life. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED swinging a hammer into the plastic tiled shower, but overall demo day is just a lot of work. It’s all fun and games until you realize you have to clean up your mess. We need a cleaning crew like they have on tv next time! Any volunteers?!

We ripped out the entire bathroom about 5 weeks ago. Yes, this was prior to the start date of the One Room Challenge, but we were stuck at home with nothing else to do. I’d call that a good use of our time! Lucky for us, we didn’t uncover any huge problems. We already knew that the 1950’s plumbing would have to be replaced and that it would be very expensive. Like so so so so expensive. But it really wasn’t optional. And now we won’t have to worry about plumbing issues in the future! So other than a large check sent to the plumbers, everything else has been going smoothly.

Here’s a reminder of what the bathroom looked like when we moved in this winter –

Not only was it unattractive, but it was also useless. The toilet was the only thing that works in this bathroom. We knew this would be one of the first projects we tackled and the One Room Challenge was the perfect excuse to take on this big renovation.
