Fall Decor for a Tiny Outdoor Space

One day I will have a lovely porch and a big yard that can be filled with holiday decor. Until then, I have to find ways to maximize Fall decor for a tiny outdoor space. So whether you have a small balcony, deck, or porch, read on for ways to decorate it for Fall.

Every renter knows that any outdoor space is a luxury. So rather than complaining about how small my 6 x 4 ft deck space, I embrace it! I have a deck to enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a cool morning. And a place to pot new plants so the inside of my house doesn’t get covered in dirt. And a spot to put pumpkins and mums in the Fall. Huzzah for the small deck!

When it comes to Fall decor, I like classic colors – oranges, maroons, yellows, and reds. This is in direct contrast to the all white everything you see on Pinterest. These colors may not be very in style right now, but they make me happy and that’s the important part. This year I got a few pumpkins from Home Depot and some mums from Lowes. The experience may not live up to going to a pumpkin patch, but it’s hard to pass up 3/$10 pumpkins and 3/$12 mums. Cheapskate for life!

It took about 10 minutes to “style” the pumpkins and mums. I used a flower pot leftover from summer to give the arrangement some height. The stairs took care of the rest. Earlier this season I decorated by flower box for Fall by adding some leaves and gourds. The flower box looks extra impressive next to the mums and pumpkins!

The last thing I did was weave these string lights through the display. I tried to take a picture at night but it didn’t turn out. Phones aren’t great at dark pictures and I don’t have a fancy camera (because I’m cheap, remember?!). Anyways, I highly recommend those lights for indoor or outdoors. Actually, especially for indoors. They are less bulky than Christmas lights and really add a nice touch of sparkle!
